Shafer Mechanical Welcomes Commercial Account Manager Ken Kessler

introducing ken kessler

Shafer Mechanical is proud to welcome Ken Kessler to the team as our new Commercial Account Manager. With decades of leadership experience, a strong technical HVAC background, and a passion for building long-term customer relationships, Ken brings a unique perspective to our growing commercial team.

From Military Service to Commercial HVAC

Ken’s career began with 27 years of service as a Naval Officer with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps, including 15 years on active duty and 12 years in the reserves.

After transitioning to the reserves, he began his career in commercial HVAC as a technician and worked his way through nearly every level of the industry. His experience includes roles as a Journeyman, Field Supervisor, Service Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Sales Manager, and General Manager.

That broad experience gives Ken an understanding of commercial HVAC from both the technical and business sides, something that will serve our customers well in his new role.

When Ken met with Shafer Mechanical VP of Commercial Jimmy Sewell and CEO Chase Anderson, he immediately noticed something different.

“What drew me to Shafer was the professionalism and direction of the company,” Ken said. “It stood apart from other companies and made the choice to join the team easy.”

Building Relationships Through Service

For Ken, a successful commercial relationship starts long before a technician arrives on-site.

It begins with listening.

Whether it is the first call for help or an initial meeting with a prospective customer, Ken believes understanding the customer’s needs and challenges is essential. From there, every interaction matters, including scheduling, communication, technical expertise, follow-up, and the service provided in the field.

That approach closely aligns with Shafer Mechanical’s service-first philosophy and commitment to providing commercial customers with responsive, reliable support.

“When you listen carefully, execute the plan and follow through, that first impression can lead to more opportunities,” Ken said. “Over time, it builds trust and a long-term partnership.”

For facility teams and commercial property owners, those relationships are particularly important. They need partners who understand their facilities, communicate clearly, respond when needed, and have the technical expertise to provide the right solutions.

Why Shafer Mechanical?

Beyond the opportunity to work directly with customers, Ken was attracted to the Commercial Account Manager position because it gets him out into the field and allows him to stay connected to the people and projects that make the industry exciting.

He was also impressed by the team already in place at Shafer Mechanical.

“The professionalism and direction Shafer is going, along with top-tier employees from the bottom to the top, is very rare in any industry,” Ken said.

As Shafer Mechanical continues to grow its commercial capabilities across Texas, experienced leaders like Ken will help us maintain what matters most: strong communication, technical expertise, responsive service, and long-term partnerships with the businesses and facility teams we serve.

Getting to Know Ken

Outside of work, Ken enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, fishing, and heading to the beach. Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary, and their children.

We are excited to welcome Ken to Shafer Mechanical and look forward to the experience, leadership, and customer-first mindset he brings to our Commercial team.
