The Challenge

The client had struggled for years with their existing Trane control system. It was difficult to manage, created inefficiencies, and required ongoing reliance on a system that no longer met their operational needs.

At the same time, the facility could not afford downtime. HVAC systems needed to remain fully operational throughout the project.

This created two primary challenges:

• Transitioning to a new control system without interrupting operations

• Coordinating work across occupied areas while maintaining comfort and performance

The Solution

Shafer Mechanical recommended converting the facility’s controls to a TCS (Ubiquity) system. The client was already using this platform at other locations and had seen proven results.

Our team approached the project with detailed planning and phased execution.

Project planning included:

• Reviewing as-built drawings and verifying all equipment onsite

• Identifying every component that required integration into the new system

• Coordinating closely with TCS engineers to confirm all materials and system requirements

• Ensuring all equipment was received and accounted for before installation began

To maintain operations, the project was completed in phases.

• Work areas were scheduled and communicated daily with the client

• Coordination with building occupants ensured minimal disruption
